PowerPoint is the industry standard for creating multimedia presentations. It has many features and one that is not utilised as much as it could be is the use of sound to compliment the imagery of either a slide show or just background music whilst the presenter presents.
There are no issues with using reasonably high quality music, and indeed, the higher the quality, given a good PA system will reward the presenter by creating an entertaining and enjoyable presentation that will increase the effectiveness of the communication.
As long as the music is not too high a quality, the sound file embedded in the powerpoint slide show will not cause too much of an issue when mailed or downloaded from corporate sites. Zip or other compression will work with the presentation and the background music file as well.
